Learning to rest without guilt

Rest isn't something you earn after finishing everything. It's a requirement for being able to finish anything at all.

Rest is not a reward

Many of us were raised on the idea that rest must be earned — that you lie down only once the to-do list is empty, which of course it never is. This turns rest into something perpetually out of reach, and guilt into the price of ever taking it anyway.

But rest isn’t the finish line reward; it’s part of the process that makes the rest of the process possible. A body and mind that never recover eventually stop being able to produce anything worth the effort.

A permission, not a negotiation

Try treating rest as a baseline need rather than something to negotiate for. You don’t need to have earned water to drink it when thirsty. The same logic can apply to rest.
